Plane, train or automobile.

I have been badly bit by the travel bug. I’m just dying to hop on a plane, train or automobile. I want to explore a new city, try a new dish and experience a new atmosphere. Ultimately I would love a trip to Europe, but that’s going to have to wait until next year so we have enough time to save and plan.

Mr. Sweet & I did book a tropical vacation for August and a couple of smaller weekend trips every couple of months. But I want to get away NOW. I really crave peace and quiet, something totally different from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I want warm tea by a fireplace, laughter and finding adventure in the unlikeliest of places.

Unfortunately with the pace things are going, I am going to have to wait till our scheduled weekend trips to slow down and just relax.

A motto to live by.

I get it. I am in my mid–thirties. I am suppose to be pregnant or at least on my way to a second child. We should live in a house with a white picket fence and 1.5 pets. Our car should be a minivan and weekends should be spent watching the kids play a sport. I’m supposed to cook dinner every night and bake for the neighbors on weekends. Dinner parties, book clubs and loafers. Wine and cheese parties, a fancy charity get together and date nights with my husband.

There are days that we really think that life should be like this and that our lives need to stem from a romantic comedy or an indie film. Then we remember that it only happens in movies. Dishes that weren’t done from the night before, being short on cash and wine without the cheese are our kind of days.

I am ok with this. There is no reason I need to be the person I thought I was going to be when I was younger. Situations change, loves lost, some found and I’m not the person I thought I once was going to be. I have a good life. I am in love with a man that is the most wonderfully funny, sweet and sarcastic person I have ever met.  I am closer to my family than I ever thought I would be and my work is fulfilling.

I try to live by this motto: Never regret your choices or where you are in life. Things can always change in an instant. Create the life that you want to live NOW, don’t rely on what you wanted THEN.

The start of a new month.

That’s right. It is the start of another month. My favorite month – November. Again, I decided again to try out NaBloPoMo.

I decided to try it out again because lately I have been bored or just too busy to blog. Ever since mid-August I stopped blogging as much so that I could concentrate on my wedding. Then right after the wedding I felt a bit “out of shape” and couldn’t get back into it on a daily basis. I need to get back into the swing of things and I believe that doing NaBloPoMo this month will help.

Of course of all the months that I decide to commit myself to NaBloPoMo, November is one of my busiest. I have two trips scheduled. One to visit my grandfather in Florida who doesn’t have internet access. The second will be my honeymoon to Jamaica and I will be enjoying the great outdoors and wonderful beaches. I promised myself that I would still write, even if the post is scheduled.

So wish me good luck!

Sweet Paul – The Online Magazine.

Have you seen Sweet Paul – The Online Magazine?  If not, you should go right over.  It is so crafty, mouth-watering and pure fun.  There are foods that you will want to run right to the kitchen to make, projects that are adorable and amazing pictures you wish were your very own.

I can’t wait till this weekend so that I can make the Amaretto-baked French Toast with Pecan (minus the pecans of course!).

{How good does that look??}

Can I be here?

I seriously need a vacation. I need to get away. Unfortunately that is not going to happen for a while. The wedding, work and life are just getting the best of me right now. So glad to have a four day weekend. I feel bad because I haven’t been able to blog in four days. I fear with everything going on this is going to be happening a bit right now.

Can I be here?

Things that make me happy # 1.

A friend and I were talking the other day about things that make us happy. So many people dwell on the bad things, but we want to start dwelling on the good. Like that warm, fresh piece of bread with melted butter on it or how cool the sheets are on your bed when you first slip into them at night. Everyone should celebrate life’s little joys. Even though they may be small they are the things that make life worth living. So I am going to start a “Things that make me Happy” List.

Here is # 1.

# 1. The perfect, crisp cool morning air. I woke up this morning to the most wonder cool breeze coming in from our windows. I don’t know about you, but I always sleep better when the windows are open and the air is cool.

{Not my window…wish it was!}

Registered!

Last Friday K was able to get out of work early. We had planned to get together and do our registry for the wedding. I had researched registering for the last week or so and looked over everything that we had and wanted. I was so ready.

The first stop we did was Macy’s. I had always wanted to register at Macy’s and I knew that they would have a ton of things that I would love. We met with our consultant Shelia and she was amazing. Funny, to the point and perfect for us. She told us the ins and outs of registering and gave us scanner. First we headed to the china department. Both K and I wanted a new more grown up look to our dishes. We were both drawn to the same set and quickly decided that we needed it on our registry. I can’t wait to eat our first dinner off this gorgeous china.

After picking the china it was completely easy from there. We knew what we needed or what needed to be replaced and scanned away.

After finishing at Macy’s, K and I headed to Crate & Barrel (which for some reason my mother keeps calling Cracker Barrel – an old country store and eatery). This is where we decided to get our smaller items (i.e stemless wine glasses, bowls, spoons and kitchen utensils). Again we were handed a scanner and went on our merry way.

I am absolutely in love with every item that we have on our registry. I can’t wait to see what we end up getting. Each item was picked with care and thought.

We are just so grateful for that we have found each other and even said on our wedding website – “We both feel grateful to have each other, loving families and friends which will make our wedding day truly special. Although no gifts are necessary, we have registered at Macy’s and Crate and Barrel for gifts towards our new life together. As always – Thank you for being part of our lives! That is one of the greatest gifts that you could give us.”

Awesome things I am going to do this summer.

Movies under the Stars.
What is more wonderful than getting together with some friends to watch movies under the stars and have a picnic overlooking the beautiful Manhattan Skyline? Nothing I tell you. I am eagerly awaiting the list of movies they will be having at the park. I can’t wait!

Three day weekends away.
K and I have already scheduled one weekend away with friends in June. A wonderful cabin in Pennsylvania and some local sightseeing.
We are also going to try to do some spontaneous trips here and there and maybe even a camping trip at the end of the summer. I love getting away.

Make many more ice creams/sorbets.
I bought an ice cream maker last year. I can’t tell you how amazing homemade ice cream is. You know exactly what you are putting in your mixes and they taste even better than store-bought ice creams. You can also try crazy flavors!

Finishing the wedding planning.
Well of course this needs to be done. If not there will be no wedding on Oct 1st. I am having so much fun planning everything and just making up our dream wedding. I hope every one enjoys the day as much as we will!

Swimming and canoeing and tubing oh my.
I want to get out and do more outdoors things. I want to get some wonderful color from the sun and feel alive.

What your your plans for the summer?
