Things to eat before I die – # 14. Nutella
Yes you read that right. I had never, ever, ever had Nutella before. So the other day I broke down and bought it. You wouldn’t believe how many food bloggers e-mail me asking me why I haven’t tried it and why I am not running to the market to buy it.
I really wanted to know what it was all about. Could this hazelnut-based sweet spread really be worth all of this hype?
Well I certainly think it is now! This stuff is delicious! I even made S’mores with it!
Nutella S’mores
1 graham cracker, broken in half
1 well toasted marshmallow (lightly browned on the outside and hot on the inside – used small because that is all I had)
about two teaspoons of Nutella
Spread the Nutella on one half of the graham cracker. Top with marshmallow, followed by the other half of the cracker. Smoosh down and enjoy.

Oh yeah, Nutella is DA BOMB!
I love Nutella, so does one of my boys. It’s great just on graham crackers as a snack too. YUM. Love your smores!
Thanks for stopping by!
Loved your Thanksgiving cookies. Adorable!
These look yummy! If you want to explore further – Giada DeLaurentis did a spot on her show with Nutella filled, deep fried wontons – I made them and they’re divine! (I actually add a small slice of banana in there too)
Here’s a link to her spot on Food Network:

Congrats on making it to the WP front page!!
Cheers!
Sandy
Thank you! Now that I know the wonders of Nutella I would love to explore new recipes!
Try Nocciolata Organic Hazelnut Spread which is organic and has no preservatives, etc…. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!
Where might I find it?
I can’t believe you never tried it before! (Okay, me and everyone else.) It is soooooooo friggin good.
Congrats on the front page
I have never been a really big fan of hazelnuts so I didn’t think I would enjoy it. Now I know what I am missing! lol
I’ve never had it but I now I definitly want to try it!

I recieved a Nutella jar and the Nutella cookbook for my birthday this year. Yes. A Nutella Cookbook ! I made no recipes yet, they’re all a bit out of my league but the book is great to look at. Needless to say the jar has been promptly emptied !!

They have a Nutella cookbook? OooooO!
Oh dear. I’m SO glad you tried it. I have a few nutella recipes if you’re interested…There was one on my blog a few weeks ago. Isn’t the stuff heavenly?
I am going to have to check out your recipe. Now I am on the look out for something else to make with Nutella! Love it!
You have motivated me to try this today
I too have not tried Nutella!
Thank you
Let me know how you like it!!
Thanks for stopping by!
Wow. I LOVE s’mores AND Nutella. I don’t know why I never thought of this! Fantastic idea! So happy for you that you tried Nutella! I first had it when I spent a month in Europe during high school. My friend and I bought a jar in Belgium and took it around with us. It was perfect for an afternoon snack. All we had to do was find a nice fresh roll somewhere and slather on some fantastically delicious Nutella and we were all set for another few hours of sightseeing!
Enjoy!!
Brandi – I’ll be checking out your recipes soon!
Have it on crepes…. so delicious. It’s great spread on a digestive cracker also. Sometimes I just eat it with a spoon. Damn it… now I want some Nutella.
looks like a delightful treat! i must try, yum! i love nutella.
Amazing stuff, isn’t it? That’s why I don’t buy it. Once I get a taste, I can’t put it down…Kinda like Oreos
I, too, just discovered the joy of Nutella. So you are not the only one. I will have to try your smores; they look scrumptious.
(Thud.)
Me swooning with desire.
Stopping by from SITS.
I actually have a jar hidden in my house, from my children. They will eat it ALL in about 3 days – I need to know (yes, need) that it is in my reach should I ever have a craving for its chocolately smooth goodness … mmmmm
they look so yummy. I’ve never had one too. I am not sure if I’ll get one here in our marts.
Love nutella! Those smores look so pretty.
I’ve never tried Nutella either and friends who eat it seem shocked by this news!!
I may have to finally break down and buy it. But I’m afraid I’ll love it and eat it straight from the jar late at night after my kids are in bed. And trust me, I don’t need anymore downfalls than I already have…LOL!
Stopping by from SITS!
Nutella is so good I’m glad you had the chance to try it. I’ve never tried s’mores though, they look delicious. I’ll have to try the recipe sometime.
MMMMM Nutella…nom nom nom.
In our house it is part of a “peanutbutter, flupp and chocolate” sandwich (as my youngest pronounces it…) Yum… for the kids I mean….
hey same here..
never tried it..
but it looks delicious..
maybe in the future I’ll try it
Mmm…Nutella & Fresh Bread – a staple at my house! Yum Yum!
Jordana
I’ve never had Nutella but I did see the Giada episode. They did look very good. Never thought of using wonton for sweets. I think caviar is something I would like to eat before I die.
Those smores look so delicious.
I loooove nutella! When I was over in Russia they sold HUGE glass jars of it. Heavenly stuff.
There is only one spread more more delicious than Nutella: Sainsbury’s Belgian Chocolate Spread!
We love Nutella at our house…thanks for the tip on making S’Mores!
living in italy, nutella was my go-to whenever I needed to sate my sweet tooth. I’d get it on piazza bianca at the local pizzeria . . . the plain, slightly salty bread really tempers the sweetness nicely!! And I LOVE it with peanut butter too
Nutella has ben my one favorite chocolate since… the dawn of time. It’s… so…… much…. Win. So expensive either.
Nutella–good on everything. It might be in your cookbook, but a great Nutella recipe is a Pinwheel. Take a square of thin dough, spread nutella on it, roll it up and slice the roll like a salami creating little cookies. Bake and then eat them all at one sitting!
What a great idea! I am so going to have to try that out!
Nutella rocks all face, it is beats peanut butter even. I’m glad you liked it. It is best on thin french crepes, over here french markets pop up randomly and do it, also camden and hampstead.
No! Don’t touch Nutella. It’s rather dangerous, 10 times worst than tobacco and alcohol altogether for some. Others went to try it with roast chicken and they never came back. Fear.
our son doesnt enjoy chocolate at all
but nutella is the best thing for breakfast we can serve!
http://shopadidas.wordpress.com
DELICIOUS!! I think I will make it my new snack. YUMMY!!!!
mmmm they look delish! nutella is the best!
I couldn’t help but leave a comment to say that those little sandwiches looked as though they were smiling at me with their big marshmallow teeth
if it makes you feel better, i’ve never had nutella either
I have never had Nutella either. I have been wanting to try it but keep forgetting to pick it up when I am at the store. Myabe I should make a special trip.
but apparently its heavenly on white bread with crunchy peanut better
Don’t feel left out. I have never had Nutella either. I did not know there was such a thing until I read your blog.
Go out and try it! Let me know if you like it!
I love Nutella – out of a jar on a spoon is irresistible. But when I was at school (about 20 years ago) the sweet shop sold little tiny individual portions for about 5p each and you got a little plastic scoop that you ate it with – for some reason these little tubs tasted better than when I have a great big jar to indulge in!!
Also if you like peanut butter then yes they go well together sandwhich between 2 plain biscuits..
Peanut butter and Nutella sounds amazing!
ahhh i want that now!
lmao, i luv nutella XD i gotta try this
Nutella is something I’d like to eat before I die. Sadly, it will have to be the last thing I eat, because Im allergic to the extent that I’m anaphylactic and it would kill me.
Have you had Devonshire Cream on scones?
Look it up. It’s divine.
Devonshire Cream? I have never heard of it. Do tell!
I love Nutella !!!
OH my word…I can’t even believe you’d never had Nutella! I would literally die without it. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating slightly. Maybe. But when I lived in Paris I survived off of baguettes and Nutella. It was a lovely lovely existence.
I love Nutella – only recently have I been able to find it in abundance at the store. While in Germany, all of the hotels had individual packs. I stole them all. Brought them back to the US. And ate them like hazelnutty cream shots. Mmmm.
Pop that smore in the microwave for 20 seconds and you got yourself some warm marshmallows! I do this quite often. I’m an expert microwaver.
I turned a certain age recently but only discovered Nutella a few weeks ago. It’s heavenly and I only wonder where it’s been all my life!
Im glad you enjoyed the Nutella! the smores look so good!
Nutella Crepes. Crepes, cool whip, bananas and wonderful nutella. This is what makes it worth while to get out of bed each day.
I think I’m the only person on the planet who finds Nutella repulsive. It’s just truly awful.
Not awful at all!
wow that looks very good….its next on my list.
thedish22.wordpress.com
yea, i love nutella too!
mmmmmmm!!
You WILL NOT believe it, but I just tried it for the first time yesterday!!! Sauteed some bananas in butter and topped with nutella. YUM!
wow never thought of nutella smores before, that must have been awesome
my heart nearly sank when I read the title of your blog…I cannot believe you’ve never had nutella!!! it’s the most amazing thing ever…ok well I’m over doing it…there are a lot of other things that are more amazing ie. Starbucks (thats my opinion) and it’s the ONLY form of hazelnut you’ll ever see me eat…I hate the stuff but not this. I’m glad you caved and have some to see what you were missing.

Thanks
i love nutella
glad you’re enjoying it. it’s also good when you poke holes into a banana, spread some nutella in there, and heat it up via microwave for a few seconds so the chocolate melts inside. then you can take a scoop of vanilla ice cream and indulge in the dessert a la mode!
Nutella is so good I’m glad you had the chance to try it. I’ve never tried s’mores though, they look delicious. I’ll have to try the recipe sometime.
since you’re relatively new to the nutella-eating world, you should try this: vanilla ice cream, bananas and nutella
tell me how it goes, bon apetit!

Nutella is awesome, but I’ve seen many a person discourage the regular intake of it. Claims it’s unhealthy. Now if only they could develop a ‘lite’ version while still maintaining the taste..
Ate Nutella as a child after living in France. I thought it was fun(espeically since they thought, at the time, that peanut butter was strange), but I’m not a big hazel nut person. Nonetheless, I have kids who ate it in Europe as well – and think it’s cool! If you’re not a hazelnut person – it’s just not going to be your cup of… anything.
You wouldn’t believe how many food bloggers e-mail me asking me why I haven’t tried it…
As BigLittleWolf alludes to in her comment, maybe it’s because you never had a French teacher introduce you to the wonderful world of Nutella. My first exposure to it was in French class in junior high. I don’t get nearly as shocked when I meet people around my age (just over a quarter of a century) that have never tried it. I’m more surprised when they politely refuse to try it.
OMg I cant beliv e you hadn’t ever had nutella.
couldn’t believe my eyes when i read your post. teehee! (:
ohwells, better late than never eh!
nutella is like the hazelnut goodness in ferreros/kinder bueno.
tastes awesome on toasted plain bread.
your s’mores look so yummy.. shall try that sometime! (:
shall link you up on my food blog.
CHEERS! (:
I like Nutella!!!! Maybe it is not very useful for health but it is very delicious and i think it is not very bad if to try it once per month for example…
that looks good!

I haven’t ate Nutella either, maybe I’ll buy some, these days.
That looks delicious.
Nutella… I haven’t had it in years. I’m a Peanut Butter lover myself, but Nutella is only a small leap…
