The quiet, bit nerdy cousin of the gooey fudge brownie

I literally made these brownies in a matter of 20 minutes and in only one pot (and baking pan). If you are someone who doesn’t really like desserts this may be the brownie for you. It feels most like the quiet, bit nerdy cousin of the gooey fudge brownie. It likes to keep in the background with a hint of chocolate and a less sugary taste. So it is a good recipe if you enjoy a bit of a drier, less sugary brownie.

One pot brownies

1/4 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup cold water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate pieces

Lightly coat the bottom of a 9x9x2-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. In a medium saucepan melt butter; remove from heat. Stir in sugar, water, and vanilla. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder until combined. Stir in chocolate pieces. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake at 350 for 15 to 18 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool, cut, sprinkle with the powdered sugar and eat!

Yields about 16 brownies

The cousin!

* I suggest that you eat this brownie right out of the oven with a good ice cream on top. The second day the brownie is very dry and not really as tasty.
